Late Night Labours... (NSFW) ... and also Regulation of Global Production ;p

Wowee is it late haha! Work was too much today so I'm going to make this short and sweet (like sugar babe). Because it is late and I'm feelin' a tad tipsy please excuse whatever happens next, this is the time when my creative juices are the most flowing... (eew). Have no fear dear listeners and doth not despair, although the changing magnetic forces of the earth currently causing the worldwide shortage of kittens has hit, and hit hard indeed, I your faithful servant have taken to creating my own kitten pictures starring this incredulously handsome lad I found, complete with birthday ribbons.

Yes, I sicken myself sometimes too but these are dire circumstances.

Moving on...

So my master, I bid you teach me what is meant by the term international labour standards... No reply huh? You are a shitty teacher master... I'll do it myself. International labour standards are world-wide laws that establish a global minimum level of protection from inhumane labor practices. Basically they are laws to ensure a minimum standard of human rights which must be upheld at work. Sounds good right? No? What are you, Hitler?! You're gonna' be in trouble when the master gets back, oooh lawdy he's gonna' whoop you with the whompin' stick.

So, amazing, here's a big question for you. Are ethical ‘audits’ and ‘monitoring’ of corporate social responsibility in global production networks effective means of securing basic labour rights and standards?

Well, It depends how often they are done... You don't really hear much about ethical audits going on, usually it's the press that exposes some sort of corruption but only to further their own corrupt masters' goals. The international authorities and government don't seem to get involved "often". For instance good ol' Wallmart bless em' have gained quite a reputation for breaking international law in relation to child slave labour. [http://www.webpronews.com/feds-charge-walmart-they-broke-labor-laws-2014-01] I mean... Wallmart still used slave labour in Bangladesh just last year...but they are still around this year so they mustn't have been punished all that much... I dunno, you'd think that was a pretty big crime, but it seems to have mostly been unpunished. Maybe we need larger punishments for a breach of basic human rights. Pretty sure dem's mighty important.

People bloody get 20 years for hacking a security system but child slave labour is just a cash fine and a government "no no". Please commit sepuku, thanks.

Ooh, I didn't know this but its interesting (if it feels like 1 AM and you feel particularly lacking in cranial stimulation = Me, plz let me sleep). There are these things called international framework agreements and they are like international labour standards but for unions in an effort to help them expand multinationally so they don't keep dying horribly with globalization. This is guwd, maybe stronger unions in first world countries can join with and then enforce 1st world standards in 3rd world countries! That would fix so much shit. If we lose the cheap exploitation labour then companies can't drive wages down so much. Jobs will be more secure, no more employees having to compete with outsourcing. Sounds good, much likes. Well later ya'll I'm super tired. But I'll leave you with this from the wisest master of all time as I am a good student grasshopper thingy, I don't know.
